DOWRY: A BANE & SHAME ON HUMANITY.

DOWRY

The idea for this write-up was triggered by a recent news clip on the incident of a young lady in kerala was thrown out from her husband’s family after two years of marriage (once-in-a-life-timemarriage!) just by sending three thalaks (muthalak) by whatsapp by her “beloved” husband, working in the Gulf. Isn’t it a sign of progress of our society! Of course, this is the 21st century of LPG (Liberalisation, Privatisation & globalisation) . In this globalised world where state-of-the-art technology & top-notch equipment enhance the quality of life, women are still sidelined in every sphere; be they at work or at home, because of the shallow vision of religious leaders, parochial views of political leaders & the shallowness of our education which seems to be regressive, rather than progressive. But even today, when the greedy ones in the mightiest nation think of settling in mars, when monarchs reign along with the mother of parliaments (in Britain. Oh what a paradox!), when male domination is held high by almost all religious leaders, women, the half of humanity, are still confined to the 4 walls of their kitchens. Women are considered inferior, not just in Saudi Arabia, but in the whole gulf, in every nation of africa, & certainly in India and Pakistan. To preach in volumes on the equality of genders in broad day light & to suppress women to any extent, need the thickness of hippopotamus skin. While the so-called enlightened politicians oppress women with their hypocritic irrational logic even in the domain of governance, there is hardly any ray of hope in the horizon for the empowerment of women. It is high time we realised that this practice of dowry remains a pervasive & devastating issue prevails only in underdeveloped nations, perpetuating the oppression of women in every domain of human activity. This so-called ‘unquestionable’ custom, often justified by regressive dogmatic concepts of religions, reinforces the notion that women are commodities to be bought and sold. Why even the enlightened doctors, architects & engineers are not ashamed to demand dowry. When women rub shoulders with men in almost every field, a society can progress only with liberated women from the clutches of regressive religious dogmas & from the narrow-minded political leaders who pretend to be be-all and end-all. The consequences are dire: life-long financial burdens on families, domestic violence against women, moral policing, & even deaths related to caste and tribe prevailing at a time when progressive nations boast of gender equality & respect for the inalienable human rights. These centuries old superstitions & precedents are further embedded by unchallengeable (!) religious leaders who hardly practise what they preach. In addition, dowry perpetuates the notion that women are inferior to men, & lack inherent values. As women increasingly participate in various fields alongside men, demanding or giving dowry is certainly a thing of stone age, & it must be condemned. It is imperative that we challenge & dismantle these oppressive systems, promoting a culture of equality, respect, (yes, respect) and empowerment for women. Only when women are respected & their multifaceted efforts are appreciated, a society can be considered progressive, & quality in life can be achieved. Let’s learn that the earlier we realise that the passivity of women is their strength & it is vital for the perpetuation of mankind. Let there be some discerning ability in us to acknowledge the hard work of women, before it is too late.

HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY

HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY

Where women are respected & their efforts are acknowledged, life becomes worth living there for both men and children, the hopes of the morrow. Today, when AI & robotics are setting a new world of ease & the quality of life is being improved, why women are destined to lead a mundane life because of dogmatic beliefs of the 6th century and the hypocrisy of the so-called elite and the affluent who seem to unsatiable. When tensions between nations looming large, and wars have again become realities to devastate everything what humanity has built in centuries, we should ensure that women and their innocent children be free from the atrocities of fascists and greedy men who care only for the satiation of their materialistic needs in their transient lives. It is high time we found time to find time to acknowledge the tireless efforts of women worldwide who continue to break barriers and are forced work both at home at the work place to meet both ends. Despite progress, women remain marginalized in many areas for reasons varied. World leaders, institutions & societies often sideline women, perpetuating exploitation under the guise of tradition and beliefs. It’s imperative that we empower women to set and achieve their goals, ensuring a quality life. As AI and digitisation transform our world by setting new norms, we must harness these advancements to alleviate women’s hardships and create opportunities for them. Let’s strive for a future where women are valued, respected & empowered to reach their full potential. Together, we can create a more equitable and just world for all, for the bright future of our next generation facilitated mainly by our women.   Join now: https://bghud.com/all-courses/

VIOLENCE, VIOLENCE & VIOLENCE; EVERYWHERE

VIOLENCE,

The main culprits for this deplorable and disgraceful scheme of events in Kerala today are not because of our teenagers, but mainly because of movies which glorify intolerable violence, the ever-growing unregulated social media which is let loose by our statutory bodies as part of some hidden agenda, & of course, the absence of role models who are expected to uphold values, the beacons of civic sense. The so-called educated and the all-knowing elite cannot in anyway escape from their responsibilities in escalating these atrocious crimes in Kerala, the land of Sree Narayana Guru, Ayyankali, EMS, Yousuf Ali and Shashi Tharoor. (although a great orator #& a global citizen, he seems to be a bit wavering in times of turbulence!). And there are the smart & the shrewd ones in our midst whose priority is just to guard their possessions amassed for their 7th generation. Or they might have stockpiled their wealth through hook or crook means, or by their political clout, in the pretext of their might acquired on the basis of caste or religion, (cast your vote on caste!) a rare phenomenon which exists only in India, even after our 77 years of independence in this age of AI and incredible geopolitical changes. (the new emerging alliance between the US & Russia; century old arch rivals) You can also read: HUMAN RIGHTS ARE OUR BIRTH RIGHT. Today, the new norm is education without values, awareness of human rights without fulfilling one’s duties & impulsive and organised crimes without any remorse. It was not in the remote past, a political leader in his robust middle age was brutally killed by wielding swords 52 times by rented goondas in his robust health who had a different political conviction. All these well-planned political violence glorify violence, and shedding crocodile tears by certain hypocritic leaders now is ludicrous when material prosperity and amassing riches are the new norms. Even the ordinary public have started to think logically. our political and religious leaders, who are known for their dichotomy between noble words and mean deeds, stand as role models. Oh, what a pity! The unfortunate part is that the Gen-Zs are neither blessed with any role models or they hardly find any solace in God, an entity which gives us hope, purpose in life and contentment. What we see today in our self-glorified state of Kerala are heinous crimes by teenagers, even against thir gracious mothers who are ready to tell blatant lies just for the welfare of their children, however violent and guilty they are. As the attention span seems to be less today, thanks to the all encompassing Instagram and instantaneous communication, why should I add more reasons for this state of affairs in an otherwise peaceful piece of land. When political violence has become a thing of the past, killing one’s own parents has become today’s trend. HUMAN RIGHTS ARE OUR BIRTH RIGHT.

Human rights, being our fundamental rights, every individual is entitled to their rights from birth. These rights are essential to live with dignity and are universal, inalienable and indivisible. They encompass various aspects of human life, including freedom, equality, justice and security. Human right violations, even if it by employers or the government, are a blatant disregard for human dignity. Such transgressions, be they at home or at work, can take many forms, including discrimination, exploitation and abuse. It is imperative that these violations are questioned and addressed in a civilized manner. Questioning human right violations requires a collective effort from individuals, communities and governments. It demands a culture of accountability, transparency and justice. Media, human right forums and any organizations which stand for human welfare should consider the protection of human rights is their priority. By promoting and protecting human rights, we can create a society where every individual can live with dignity and respect. Ultimately, human rights are birth rights and it is our responsibility to ensure that they are upheld. The earlier we realise it, the better it is for improving the quality of life across the world.
